Health & Safety Accreditation

Health & Safety Accreditation

In 2010, we started working with the Kaizen Institute in Zambia to implement best manufacturing practices in our facility by training our staff to first world levels. Running with that, we have worked on our food safety management systems. We believe that as a poultry processor, we have a corporate responsibility to deliver world class products to our Zambian consumers. In 2018, Eureka implemented its strategic vision of being the best poultry processor in the country through continuous staff training and the implementation of world class food safety standards.

This prompted us to further our food safety and quality standards by complying with FSSC 22000 (Food Safety Systems Certification) requirements. In order to achieve FSSC 22000 certification, we have to comply with ISO 22000 food safety management systems and additional food safety requirements.

ISO 22000 includes HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and traceability, while Prerequisite Programmes (PRPs) focus more on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Pest Control, Waste Management, Cleaning and Sanitation.

In 2019, Eureka went through intensive quality and food safety audits, leading to a quality product certification mark from the Zambia Bureau of Standards. In the same year, the company was awarded the first prize at the Zambia Annual Quality Awards gala, and named Company of the Year in the Large Enterprise category by the Zambia Bureau of Standards and Zambia Association of Manufacturers.

A crucial factor in our operations is traceability: we can trace any of our products back to the grandparents that produced the final product, and we are able to trace forward to the final consumer. This gives us the capability to investigate any non-conformances in our products and recall them from the market should this be deemed necessary.
